Why I Write

Another short-form post to plug the gap and ensure that I am publishing every day. I don’t expect this to go viral or for it to change the world but you never know. Chaos theory is a thing and the next greatest writer of all time could be about to quit and reads this post instead. Stranger things have happened. But really I write because I find that thinking is hard. Most of my ideas are half baked. I go into things half-cocked only to be proven wrong. I argue badly and I take positions based on my emotions and not on that which I truly know. I write to be less wrong. I write to know myself and my thoughts. Writing helps me define who I am and I cannot do that by reading and thinking alone. Writing is the crucial component that puts it all together. I write because the more I do it the more refined my thinking gets. The more I write the more I know my own mind, at least by knowing that I am mostly wrong. It’s a compulsion and a habit and a pleasure. Why do you write?
