My Articles Are Never Curated or Accepted And I Still Earn $500 a Month

New writers don’t get hung up on publications, I do just fine without them.

Trying hard to get your articles curated? Fearful of being rejected by publications? Don’t be.

You don’t need them, especially if you are a new writer. New means someone who has been writing here for a year or less.

I’ve published over 400 articles on Medium in the last 15 months. 90% of them have been un-curated and self-published, some do well and earn most of the money I take home. Some never get a clap.

There are people I know, who write on here and get tonnes of claps, curations and distribution. Much more than I but they earn the same amount or even less.

None of these things is a marker of how much someone is earning. They are all just vanity metrics.

Don’t be fooled by those metrics.

It’s the number of people who read and spend time on your page that is King. The longer the article is read, the more you earn. The more you write the better you get and the more people read.

I have 100s of articles that have earned me .50c here and a dollar there and over time it stacks up. I have some that have earned $100 plus.
